Rahzel Brown is a seven-time nominated, two-time Grammy Award winning beat boxer and vocal percussionist and a member emeritus of The Roots. Rahzel will first join us as our guest at Morning Fill Up on Wednesday, July 12 at 7am, and then perform live later that same night at 7pm. The concert has sold out.
Rahzel doesn’t play any instruments… he is the instrument! He mastered, and then re-defined, the art of beatboxing, emerging as a true virtuoso in this quintessential musical art form. Rahzel’s singular ability to re-create full songs without instrumentation, sing a chorus and provide the musical melody simultaneously, and invoke a plethora of sound effects on a whim creates an inimitable visual and audio experience. He has left audiences across 40 countries and 350 cities stunned and hungry for more.
Rahzel has lent his talents in collaboration with musicians from Ben Harper to Bobby McFerren to Angelique Kidjoe to the Bestie Boys, John Legend, and Maroon 5. He has performed at Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Gardens, Metlife Stadium, and Coachella Music Festival. Rahzel is considered one of the founders of beatboxing as we know it today; he's been beatboxing since the early 1980's and performing since 1985. He released his iconic debut album "Make the Music 2000" in 1999, which is known as one of the most influential beatboxing albums of all time.
